When the land falls dark,
the Sun and Moon meet
and Stars fall from the sky.
Four fateless heroes
enter a monument of old,
hoping to find an answer,
to the greatest question of all:
Why?

WELCOME TO THE MONUMENT

Runecycle is a fantasy TTRPG about fate, cycles and you. You and your allies brave a Monument, a great structure built by an ancient civilization in hopes of finding answers to the mystery of your magical powers.

Inspired by Whitehack, Grimwild, City of Mist and Vagabond // Pulp Fantasy RPG, Runecycle combines minimalist system design with old-school dungeon crawling and modern storytelling, creating an experience that is fast, fluid and full of player creativity.

Inspired by GRIS, Neva and Journey, Monuments are ancient structures with a greater purpose. Players don't enter to find loot or monsters to slay, instead they brave the Monument for a variety of reasons from preventing an ancient evil from escaping to opening a portal to another dimension.

MAGIC

Inspired by Avatar the Last Airbender, The Dragon Prince and various superhero comics and movies, the magic in Runecycle is deeply personal and powerful: You hold a Rune. A piece of creation itself, which lets you control its subject in any way you see fit. This is, however, all that you have and you have to get creative to survive your trials.

COMBAT

Runecycle supports standard 1-inch gridded combat. Combat rules are robust with weapons, spells, conditions and abilities but also very simple for quick gameplay. Runecycle is primarily a problem solving game but occasionally violence may be part of the solution.
